

Yara Abu Aataya is a multidisciplinary designer born in Gaza and living in Prague. She studied architecture at UMPRUM, she is currently focused mainly on graphic design and social media, her creative scope, however, also includes a number of other disciplines, such as scenography or product design. Yara will share her life experience as a Czech-Palestinian, who is actively involved in the struggle for rights of Palestinian people, and thus must face waves of silencing and censorship.
Michal Lipták is a philosopher and lawyer. He focuses on contemporary classical music, phenomenology, the possibilities of art criticism, as well as current political and humanitarian issues. Within them he draws attention to the distortion of Slovak media and public discourse on the topic of Gaza, the imbalance and disproportionality in coverage and moral judgements.
Yara and Michal will discuss Gaza, Palestine, Gaza and Palestine in Czech Republic and Slovakia. During the discussion there will also be a reading of texts from the books If I Must Die, Let It Be a Story – Palestine in Czech Perspectives and On This Earth There Is Something To Live For, published by the Czech publishing coop Utopia Libri.
