Lukas De Clerck is a composer, musician and researcher based in Brussels. As a sound experimenter, he specializes in the Aulos, an ancient Greco-Roman wind instrument that disappeared more than a millennium ago. De Clerck seeks to revive its past, to transform it, and thus echo the lost worlds of ancient reliefs and mosaics. After several years of deep immersion in researching this reed instrument and playing replicas of the ancient instruments, he created his own version. It consists of two telescopic whistles which are pressed to the mouth by a special system. Characteristic elements of his performance are microtonality and psychoacoustics that put the audience in a trance, somewhere between fictional folklore music, volcanic drones and otherworldly cacophony. Lukas De Clerck played festivals such as Rewire, Sonic Acts, Meakusma, Sonic Protest, or UH, and last year his album The Telescopic Aulos of Atlas was released by Ideologic Organ label (lead by Stephen O'Malley of Sunn O)))). The woods around Hájovňa were never what they seemed to be.
