Sarah Buchner is a vocalist and voice enthusiast based in Copenhagen.
Her music is dedicated to the shape-shifting capabilities of the voice. In her solo performances, she produces ongoing, quickly altering and surreal soundscapes. By turning her voice from an instrument of individual emotional expression into an anonymous sound source, she aims to filter out a kind of acoustic “non-person”. She is inspired by daily vocal outbursts, electronic music and ASMR and is drawn towards mixing close-up mics and the acoustics of the room she performs in. In her recent album girls choir (ILK, 2024), she built an abstract audio play out of hundreds of vocal recordings. She composes for Puppets and Sound as part of Sono Figures Society and is part of the self-led neo-chamber group Wolfskin Ensemble.
